Migrating a Sonar Professional Setup

  • by

Connected with a client who was migrating his Sonar Professional setup from an old laptop to a new one. We had already spoken about his choice of laptop and I had confirmed his choice of a Carillion Core 3 was a good one.

Once the new laptop arrived we arranged a time to speak and I connected remotely into both his old and new laptops at the same time. We installed the download manager software for Sonar on his new laptop. I helped him recover his username and password and we signed into the download manager. We set his software installing and repeated similar processes for his other plugins such as Melodyne and Addictive Drums.

As the software files would take a time to download we left them running and connected again the next day to finish the job.

I copied his templates from his old laptop and moved them into the default templates location on his new laptop. I installed the drivers for his audio interface and MIDI keyboard and checked they worked in Sonar.

We moved his external hard drives to the new laptop and checked his song files opened correctly without errors. Everything was running smoothly and the client was happy with his new laptop. The total time for this job was 4 hours.
