Hi Paul. I have a problem with my Behringer XR16 Mixer. For some reason the master faders of the bus outputs don’t affect the volume when I move them on my iPad. Also the mutes don’t work. Can you connect to my system and help me please? – Darren
I received the above message from Darren and we arranged a time to connect later that day. We set up a remote connection between our screens and used WhatsApp video, so Darren could show me the X-Air Software running on his iPad.
Darren and I went through the process of setting up a microphone and testing the mixer to get an understanding of the problem. I confirmed that the Aux 1 output was definitely not behaving as it should, moving the fader made no difference to the output level.
After exploring the mixer software and reading through the manual I found the answer:
In the I/O routing page of the mixer, the aux send taps were all set to Pre-Fader.
This meant that the master channel faders and mutes were bypassed on these auxes. Changing the send tap to Post-Fader for all the Auxes solved the problem. I’m not sure why Behringer set the taps to Pre-Fader by default, but maybe this will be resolved in a future software update.
Darren and I spent the remaining time in our session looking at other features of the mixer and discussing how best to use some other features in his band’s live setup.
At the end of the session, Darren was relived that his mixer was now working properly and to have a more detailed understanding of some advanced features.
