Configuring an Apogee Symphony, Eventide H900 and Pro Tools HDX system

  • by

Connected remotely to a client in Spain who was setting up a Pro Tools rig for mastering. He was using four 16 Pro Tools HDX cards in the PCI slots of his Mac connecting to various hardware compressors, EQs and bus processors via an Apogee Symphony interface. He was also using an Eventide H9000.

The client had already physically installed everything, but the devices weren’t connecting with Pro Tools. I showed him how to set up his Pro Tools I/O to recognise the interfaces and then how to use the Bus tab within Pro Tools I/O to name the paths to match his devices.

The Symphony needed changes made within the settings to disable the Thunderbolt and Dante outputs and use the HDX expansion card.

To connect the Eventide H9000, we used the Eventide Emote software to view the internal DSP chains of the H9000. To connect the Eventide H9000 we used the Eventide Emote software to view the internal DSP chains of the H9000 and then assigned matching names in the Pro Tools Bus I/O.
